Joseph Protects His Father's Family
The family met with Pharoah and did as instructed by Joseph. Pharoah let them settle in the best land in Goshen. The famine grew worse all across Egypt so the people came to Joseph, seeking food. Joseph sold them food and in the process collected all the money in Egypt for the Pharoah.
The following year, they again came for food and exchanged their livestock to Pharoah. The next year, again they came to Joseph for food and since they had no money and no livestock, they offered themselves as servants to Pharoah. Joseph gave them seed with the condition that 20% of the crop be given to Pharoah.
Israel was in Egypt for 17 years and made Joseph promise that when he died that Joseph would bury his bones where his fathers were buried, not in Egypt.
