God is Faithful in His Presence with Jacob; Protects Jacob from Laban's Envy
Jacob, Leah and Rachel leave Laban to return to Isaac as God has asked them to do. God repeats several times that He has always been with Jacob and that He will always be with him. Thus we can be assured of God's continual present in our lives.
Laban's sons were convinced that Jacob was stealing Laban's herds even though this was the agreement that had been made. It was envy working on the sons and they made Laban envious, as well. Evil is often done in the name of envy.
As they were leaving Laban, Rachel was angry with her father and stole his household gods. God warned Laban not to harm Jacob. Laban followed Jacob looking for his household gods (female figurines). Rachel hid the idols under her while she sat on her camel so Laban cound not find them. Jacob professed his innocence and cursed whoever did take the idols ... not knowing he had put a curse on his beloved Rachel.
She expressed utter contempt toward her father. Both daughters knew that Jacob had been honest and patient and had worked hard for Laban.
Jacob and Laban made a mutual non-aggression treaty. Laban kissed his grandchildren and daughters and left. He is not mentioned again in Scriptures.
